Significant changes to the commercial activity and the relocation of the business within the municipality must be reported.Description
A business re-registration may be necessary if you
- relocate the registered office of your company within the municipality;
- change the object of your trade;
- change your name or, in the case of legal entities (e.g. GmbH, UG ), the name of the company or
- extend the object of your trade to include goods or services that are not customary for businesses of the type registered.
Although certain trades do not require a permit, they are subject to special official monitoring (trades requiring monitoring in accordance with Section 38 GewO). The following trades are affected:
- Purchase and sale by companies specializing in the trade in used goods;
- Providing information on financial circumstances and personal matters;
- Arrangement of marriages, partnerships and acquaintances;
- Operation of travel agencies and accommodation brokerage;
- the sale and installation of building security systems, including key services; and
- Manufacture and distribution of special theft-related opening tools.

Deadlines
The notification must be made when relocating the business or changing the business object.
When re-registering a business requiring supervision, the reliability of the business operator is checked immediately. The applicant is therefore obliged to provide proof of reliability.

The business registration can be submitted in text form using the form provided to the municipality in which the activity is carried out or to the competent Chamber of Industry and Commerce or Chamber of Crafts. If a competent authority provides an online procedure, the business registration can be submitted electronically via this procedure.
Other bodies (e.g. the tax office, the Chamber of Trade or the Chamber of Industry and Commerce) are also informed about the change of business registration.
