Water supply; safeguarding
Brief description
The public supply of drinking water to households as a service of general interest is provided by the municipalities, municipal companies (water supply companies) or municipal special-purpose associations.Description
The public water supply is a task of general interest (Section 50 (1) of the Water Resources Act) and in Bavaria is a mandatory task of the municipalities within their own sphere of activity (Art. 57 (2) of the Municipal Code).
The municipalities and special-purpose associations regulate the scope of their supply area and the amount of the water supply contributions and charges by means of bylaws. In the supply areas, there is generally an obligation to connect and use the water.
If you have any questions about the water connection (e.g. property connection, garden connection), contributions and fees or the quality of your drinking water, please contact your municipality or city first.
Please contact the health department of your district authority for specialist questions on drinking water hygiene.
