With this award, the city recognizes the long-standing and exceptional volunteer efforts of the many organizers who have been planning and carrying out the Old Town Race for many years with great dedication. The event has long been an integral part of community life in Leutershausen. Through its charitable nature, the involvement of numerous clubs, institutions, and volunteers, and the use of proceeds for social causes, the Old Town Race makes a valuable contribution to the common good.
The ten-member organizing team handles a wide range of tasks: Simon Bauer is responsible for overall organization, race organization, and scheduling. In addition to overall organization, Jonathan Loos handles sponsor recruitment and serves as the on-site contact in Leutershausen. Felix Ehrmann and Christopher Poßberg handle public relations, advertising, and race planning. Philipp Schmitt is in charge of emceeing, and Erik Enders manages the website. Christina Wolf and Tina Zechner are responsible for social media and design. Tobias Mayer supports the team with a variety of organizational tasks, while Michael Schmitt is in charge of procurement.
The organizing team is supported by numerous other volunteers as well as various organizations. These include, among others, the YMCA, the volunteer fire department for traffic control, the BRK for medical services, the municipal maintenance department for cleaning and preparing the course, and Radio 8 for hosting the event. In addition, many other participants contribute to the success of the event.
On behalf of the entire organizing team, Jonathan Loos, Felix Ehrmann, and Christopher Poßberg attended the city council meeting and accepted the honor. Mayor Markus Liebich presented the representatives of the organizing team with the City of Leutershausen medal and a bouquet of flowers. As a further token of appreciation, the entire organizing team received ten caps from the Gustav-Weißkopf Museum.
The town of Leutershausen would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to everyone involved for their outstanding volunteer work, their great dedication, and their valuable contribution to the community.
