Information for citizens on solar installations on rooftops in the Leutershausen municipal area
Dear fellow citizens,
The installation of photovoltaic systems on roof surfaces makes a major contribution to renewable electricity generation and thus to the energy transition in Germany. Many building owners have already decided to operate their own photovoltaic system.
The town council is currently receiving an increasing number of inquiries from homeowners in the town center who intend to install photovoltaic or solar thermal modules on their roofs. The town of Leutershausen welcomes this commitment and would like to support you in the realization of the systems.
Subject to certain design conditions, solar installations are possible on roof surfaces in the town center, provided they are suitable due to their location and orientation. In the interests of preserving the historic townscape of Leutershausen, our old town and the surrounding area along the town wall enjoy listed building protection. In this protected area and on all buildings with individual monument protection, even outside the protected area, the installation of solar systems is not permitted without further ado. The area of application of the protected ensemble area and the individual monuments are shown on the aerial photograph below. The individual monuments can be identified by the magenta-colored roof areas.
Anyone wishing to install a solar system in an ensemble protection area or on an individual monument must submit an application to the Ansbach District Office for a permit under monument protection law. You can request the application documents from us at the town council or download them from the website of the Ansbach District Office.
After the application has been submitted, an on-site meeting is usually held with an employee of the Ansbach District Office's building department. They will discuss how the installation must be designed in order to meet the legal requirements of monument protection. You will then receive a decision with details of the design requirements. Installation of the system may only begin once the permit has been issued and the conditions specified therein have been met.
